Bryan founded Oceanside in 2001 after working in both corporate and hospital-based facilities. He felt a need to develop a more patient focused environment to deliver the type of care he felt patients deserved. Bryan specializes in the treatment of orthopedic and sports related injuries and handles cases ranging from professional and college level athletes to weekend warriors. Bryan holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine and Master of Physical Therapy from Old Dominion University in Virginia. In addition, Bryan is a Certified Performance Specialist with EXOS (www.teamexos.com), a certified Canine Rehabilitation Specialist and is certified in Blood Flow Restriction Therapy through Owens Recovery Science (www.owensrecoveryscience.com).
Bryan has a specific interest in the assessment and treatment of lower extremity injuries with a specific focus on hip related injuries and conditions such as Femoral Acetabular Impingement (FAI), Acetabular Labrum tears and Hip Dysplasia. Bryan is one of the few physical therapist to be selected as a member of the International Society of Hip Arthroscopy-The Hip Preservation Society (www.isha.net) and is active in the development of conservative and post-operative care for patients with these conditions. Bryan has an additional interest in lower extremity biomechanics and rehab and uses the office’s multi-camera computer video system to analyze a patient’s gait or running mechanics to get to the root of the problem
In addition to the traditional physical therapy techniques, Bryan has completed several post-graduate courses in Osteopathic Manual Therapy Techniques and uses a hands-on approach as a large part of the patient care. These techniques include; Strain and Counterstrain, Muscle Energy Techniques, Cranioscaral techniques and Osteopathic mobilization. These techniques help Bryan restore normal alignment and function that expedites the patient’s recovery.
On a personal note, Bryan has been an active runner and has competed at various levels of mountain bike and road cycling and has 12 years of experience playing and coaching soccer at the high school and college level. Bryan lives locally with his beautiful wife Allison and lovely daughter Hannah and their three dogs.
